Clearwater Upended by Tampa, 3-2
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Tampa Yankees and Clearwater Threshers.
Starting pitcher Juan Salinas gave the Tampa Yankees a rock-solid effort. The Cidra, Puerto Rico native helped his team defeat the Clearwater Threshers, 3-2, at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Dan Adams earned the save for Tampa, his 3rd.
The Yankees got a big at-bat from second baseman Steve Lowe. For the game, Lowe was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Tampa a 3-0 lead.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Salinas.
Tampa has a mark of 7-7 after the win.
