Soggy conditions did not keep Daytona and Lakeland from playing their scheduled game.

The Daytona Tortugas overcame a pretty good performance by Lakeland center fielder Joe Jacobs, beating the Flying Tigers, 6-5, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Jacobs was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times. Lakeland drops to 10-6.

Jeff Kennedy drew 2 walks for Daytona. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Kennedy, who is tied for 9th in the FSL in runs scored with 9, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Lakeland hurler Filip Pauw, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Tortugas a 6-5 lead.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Kennedy said.
