St. Lucie Beaten, 5-3, by Jupiter
|
St. Lucie got a decent performance from pitcher Chet Bass, but it wasn't enough to beat the Jupiter Hammerheads. Jupiter won the Tradition Field contest, 5-3. Bass threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Pancho Jaca. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Getting the save was José Sánchez, his 3rd.
Jim McLaughlin came through with a big-time hit for Jupiter. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said McLaughlin. "It sure beats the alternative."
The Hammerheads, now 13-7, have been on a roll in the early going.
