The Lakeland Flying Tigers knocked off the Brevard County Manatees, 5-2, in Florida State League action at Space Coast Stadium. Lakeland pitcher and Leon Valley, Texas, native Greg Carr had an outstanding performance. Juan Barrera, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Brevard County is now 6-20.

Had Jorge Tovar not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Tovar hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Flying Tigers.

Brevard County manager Jeremy Hernandez, after yet another defeat, said: "Guys need to step up. Pronto."
