Flying Tigers Get 5th Straight Win with Late Rally
|
The Lakeland Flying Tigers picked up a win at Joker Marchant Stadium, taking down the Brevard County Manatees, 5-2. Starting pitcher Jonathan Wells was a big reason why. Lakeland reliever Filip Pauw picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Johnny Blackwell absorbed the loss. Lakeland has run its win streak to 5 consecutive.
Lakeland got a clutch hit from Jesús Ríos. The first baseman launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"On the outside I was calm," said Flying Tigers manager Donald Lutz. "But inside I was a nervous wreck."
