Threshers Handle Tampa, Snag 3-1 Win
The Clearwater Threshers and Tampa Yankees played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The Clearwater Threshers picked up a win at Bright House Field, downing the Tampa Yankees, 3-1. On the mound for Clearwater was left-hander Steve Ives, who played a pivotal role in the win. Clearwater is now 14-18, while Tampa is 17-15.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Threshers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when third baseman Naomichi Kakuta hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Sébastien Billy and made the score 1-0, Threshers. Kakuta went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.

Kakuta called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
