Palm Beach Dispatched, 5-1, by Bradenton
|
Bradenton turned a good effort from starter Juan Villanueva into a win over the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. The final score was 5-1. The winning pitcher was Villanueva, now 4-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The Marauders bumped their record to 18-15 with this win.
It could have been a different outcome for Bradenton, had it not been for Von Wheeler, the 22-year old third baseman . Wheeler contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Bradenton up, 3-1.
Said losing manager Irving Falu: "Give the Marauders credit. They played a better game than we did."
