Ruíz Lifts Flying Tigers to 11-5 Triumph
Lakeland third baseman Jesús Ruíz was instrumental in helping the Flying Tigers triumph, 11-5, over the St. Lucie Mets. Ruíz was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Juan Martínez got the win, improving to 4-1. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Clemente Piccinini recorded the save for Lakeland, his 1st of the season.

Lakeland used a well-timed hit by Lou Watson to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Flying Tigers ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Lakeland manager Donald Lutz.
