Threshers Send Brevard County Home with 7-2 Loss
|
The Clearwater Threshers defeated the Brevard County Manatees, 7-2, at Space Coast Stadium. Clearwater was led by 25-year old catcher Zak Wheeler, who was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Kade Lynch picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 3-3. Clearwater has now won 4 games in a row.
With Clearwater leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Wheeler hit a curveball from Ed Brown for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Threshers ahead, 6-1.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Clearwater manager Hector Santiago.
