The Clearwater Threshers downed the Palm Beach Cardinals, 4-1, at Roger Dean Stadium. Stellar pitching by Jorge Marrón had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the FSL in strikeouts with 40, handcuffed his opponent all game. Marrón, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. With the win over Palm Beach, the Threshers improved to 18-20.

Joe Norman had a direct impact on the outcome. Norman contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Clearwater up, 2-0.

Norman called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
