The Clearwater Threshers weathered a fine game by Dunedin second baseman José López to upend the Blue Jays, 6-5, at Bright House Field. López went 3-5 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Clearwater is now 20-22, Dunedin 20-22.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Hawkins in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Doug Winters to win the game for Clearwater. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Hawkins.
