Miracle Need Extra Innings to Top Flying Tigers, 7-5
|
The Fort Myers Miracle faced a tough opponent in Lakeland pitcher Albert Ramírez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Joker Marchant Stadium by a final score of 7-5 in 13 innings. Ramírez went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The Miracle now have a record of 20-24 with the win over Lakeland.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder José Lerma came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Lakeland pitcher António Valenzuela, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Myers on top, 6-5.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Miracle manager Tony Thomas.
