Bright House Field was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.

The Clearwater Threshers went home winners at Bright House Field, thanks in large part to starter José López. López stifled the Dunedin Blue Jays, enabling Clearwater to grab the 2-1 win. López went the distance for Clearwater. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Hawkins in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Eric Clement to win the game for Clearwater. The home crowd went nuts.

"José is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Clearwater manager Hector Santiago.

The Threshers sport a record of 10-35.
