Tortugas Raise Rally Flag, Beat Tampa, 5-3
|
The Tortugas grabbed a win, 5-3, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Tampa pitcher Sébastien Billy. Billy went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs. Daytona reliever Don Chase was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Joe Ward. Alex Ashe saved it for Daytona.
Daytona went up, 5-3, on Kevin Patrick's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Patrick hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Tampa pitcher Mac Kramer shaking his head.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Tortugas manager Tracy McGrady.
The win lifted the Daytona record to 26-21.
