The Tampa Yankees picked up a win at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, dropping the Daytona Tortugas, 6-3. Kevin Hicks, who is tied for 6th in the FSL in innings pitched with 62.1, was the difference-maker. Tampa goes to 23-24, Daytona to 26-22.
Tampa used the timely hitting of Alvin Roe to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Kevin was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Tampa manager Justin Smoak.
