The Tampa Yankees got a good effort from starter Luis Fuentes in defeating the Brevard County Manatees at Space Coast Stadium. The final score was 4-1. Fuentes, the winner, moves to 4-6. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. António Martínez was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Steve Baker, who is tied for 8th in the FSL in doubles with 16, had a direct impact on the outcome. Baker contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Tampa up, 3-1.

"We got what we needed when we needed to," said Tampa manager Eric Owens.

Tampa is now 22-33, Brevard County 22-33.
