Manatees Get Past Daytona for 5-4 Win
The Brevard County Manatees trumped the Daytona Tortugas, 5-4, at Space Coast Stadium. Brevard County center fielder Danny Gillespie was terrific. He went 3 for 6 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Brevard County reliever Johnny Blackwell was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Steve Gaines. With the win, the Manatees are 16-39.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Gillespie hit a fastball from Steve Gaines for a run-scoring single. The Manatees, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Brevard County manager Jeremy Hernandez said afterward.
