The St. Lucie Mets claimed a close win over the Brevard County Manatees, due in large part to Dave Mata. The St. Lucie right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Mitch Smith nailed down his 5th save. The triumph puts St. Lucie at 35-22 for the season.

Noel Owens drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for St. Lucie. The 25-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Randy Smith. It was his 29th RBI of the season.

"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Mets manager Jorge Hernandez.
