Floundering Tortugas Lose 6th Straight
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Palm Beach Cardinals and Daytona Tortugas.

Palm Beach got a strong outing from Bob Smith as the Cardinals defeated the Daytona Tortugas, 3-1, at Roger Dean Stadium. Palm Beach reliever Monty Kirkland picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Dan Burke was saddled with the loss. Arturo Robles, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Ricky MacKey, who is tied for 9th in the FSL in bases on balls with 28, helped out the Palm Beach cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder was 2-4 with 2 singles.

"Bob works, he fights, and he keeps a good attitude," said Cardinals manager Orlando López.

Daytona's current losing streak is now 6 games.
