Jupiter Wins Pitchers' Duel, 2-1
|
Jerry Pagán, who is tied for 5th in the FSL in wins with 5, pitched well, but the Dunedin Blue Jays still fell short, losing, 2-1, to the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Stadium. Jupiter reliever Steve Cole got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Jerry Pagán was tagged with the loss. José Sánchez closed out the game, earning his 12th save.
The Hammerheads got a big at-bat from designated hitter Joey Murphy. For the game, Murphy went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Jupiter a 2-1 lead.
In postgame remarks, Murphy hailed his team's "single-minded focus."
The first-place Hammerheads have won 4 consecutive games.
