Hammerheads Squelch Manatees Offense in Shutout Win
|
Sam David, who is tied for 7th in the FSL with a 8.7 K/9 rate, imposed his will on the Manatees from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Jupiter triumph. David got the win, improving to 3-3. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Tony López earned the save for Jupiter.
The Hammerheads had to work out of trouble in the top of the sixth. The score was 2-0, Jupiter, with no one out. Brevard County, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Alfredo Fernández dug in at the plate, but on a 0-1 fastball, he flied out.
With the win, Jupiter raised its record to 36-24.
