Tampa Absorbs 7-6 Loss to Fort Myers
The Fort Myers Miracle withstood a fine game by Tampa third baseman Steve Lowe at Hammond Stadium, to upend the Yankees, 7-6. Lowe went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jim Hannah, who is tied for 6th in the FSL with a 8.8 K/9 rate, was the winner. He's now 5-6. The loser was Dave Cobb. With the win, Fort Myers has a record of 31-36. Tampa falls to 30-37.

Fort Myers designated hitter Bud Swinford contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 74th hit of the season and put the Miracle ahead, 7-0.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fort Myers manager Tony Thomas.
