The St. Lucie Mets knocked off the Clearwater Threshers, 9-1, in Florida State League action at Tradition Field. St. Lucie pitcher and Ft. Worth, Texas, native Dave King had an outstanding performance. King, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. St. Lucie is 38-29 and Clearwater, with the loss, 35-32.

The Mets had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 6-1, St. Lucie, with one out. Clearwater, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Luis Trevino dug in at the plate, but on a full count curveball, he struck out.
