Flying Tigers Fall Short, 2-1, at St. Lucie
The St. Lucie Mets claimed a close win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers, due in large part to Dave King. The St. Lucie right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. King yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 4-0. Kel Turner earned the save for St. Lucie, his 20th of the year.

The Mets got a big at-bat from third baseman Curt Thompson. For the game, Thompson was 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave St. Lucie a 2-1 lead.

"This was a tough loss," said Lakeland manager Donald Lutz. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."

St. Lucie has now won 6 straight.
