Clearwater Defeated by Daytona, 4-2

Daytona pitcher António García did his part in helping his team defeat the Clearwater Threshers, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. García, now 3-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Dave Hill, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Daytona center fielder Lonnie Johnston contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a changeup to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 68th hit of the season and put the Tortugas ahead, 4-0.
Said losing manager Hector Santiago: "I think Susan Sarandon said it, 'Hit it where they ain't.' We didn't do a very good job of that tonight."
Daytona is now 42-30, while Clearwater is 26-46.
