Threshers Prevail, 4-3, Over Daytona
|
The Clearwater Threshers weathered a fine game by Daytona catcher Jonathan Litton to upend the Tortugas, 4-3, at Bright House Field. Litton was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Sigfrid Naegeli earned the win to go to 7-6. He allowed 3 runs on 12 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The save was credited to Jeremy Jackson, his 7th.
The Threshers got a big at-bat from catcher Zak Wheeler. For the game, Wheeler was 1 for 3 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Clearwater a 4-3 lead.
Wheeler told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
With the victory, the Threshers upped their record to 39-35.
