The Charlotte Stone Crabs got a superb performance from pitcher Chad Yoder, but the Tampa Yankees still won the game, 6-2. Yoder threw 7.2 innings allowing 6 runs. The winner was Joe Ward in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Chad Yoder took the loss. After today's action, Tampa sits at 32-43, while Charlotte falls to 37-39.

Tampa third baseman Pat Bailey contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 72nd hit of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 1-0.
