A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Tampa Yankees and Charlotte Stone Crabs.

The Tampa Yankees picked up a win at Charlotte Sports Park, dropping the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 6-2. Mike Armstrong, who is tied for 5th in the FSL in quality starts with 11, was the difference-maker. Armstrong, the winner, moves to 8-6. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.

Despite the loss, the Stone Crabs got an encouraging performance from 22-year-old Eric Faulkner. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a 2-run single to make the score 6-2, Tampa. "It's not easy for a young guy to go out there and perform," Stone Crabs manager Brad Salmon said. "But he did it like one of the vets."

The third-place Yankees have won 4 in a row.
