Ives Leads Clearwater to 8-0 Win Over Lakeland
The Lakeland Flying Tigers were almost helpless in their 8-0 loss to the Clearwater Threshers and hurler Steve Ives. Ives kept the Flying Tigers confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Ives," Lakeland manager Donald Lutz said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 23-year-old left-hander had 4 walks and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Ives said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

This season, Ives has 6 wins and 7 losses and a 3.70 ERA.
