Despite a great performance by Tampa shortstop Steve Lowe, the Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Yankees by the score of 9-8 at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Lowe went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The Cardinals raised their record to 40-64.

An inflection point occurred with no one out in the top of the second. That's when Cardinals catcher Chris Sweet hit a fastball from Sébastien Billy for a 2-run single. Just like that, Palm Beach was up, 4-3.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Sweet.
