The Fort Myers Miracle picked up a win at Hammond Stadium, knocking off the Clearwater Threshers, 3-1. Starting pitcher Andy Alston was a big reason why. Chris Arnold was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 20 save opportunities. Fort Myers is now 51-57. Clearwater is 58-50.

Had Jesús Rodríguez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Rodríguez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Miracle.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Alston. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
