Flying Tigers Win with Late Heroics
The Lakeland Flying Tigers outlasted the Brevard County Manatees in an extra-inning thriller.

The Lakeland Flying Tigers managed to get by the Brevard County Manatees, 4-3, in 11 innings at Joker Marchant Stadium. Lakeland pitcher Jeff Smith set himself apart with his performance. José Cervantes snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2.1 innings. He's now 5-5 on the season.

The decisive blow was delivered by Joe Sheehan in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Dan McCurley to win the game for Lakeland. The home crowd went nuts.

"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Flying Tigers manager Donald Lutz.

Brevard County has now lost 4 in a row.
