The St. Lucie Mets topped the Clearwater Threshers, 2-0, in Florida State League action at Tradition Field. The standout performance belonged to St. Lucie pitcher and Gardner, Massachusetts, native Dominic Crow. Crow yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-0. Kel Turner notched his 24th save in 27 chances.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Steve Randolph didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Clearwater trailing 2-0, Randolph retired Zak Wheeler to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Randolph, with a wink.
The win gives St. Lucie a season record of 61-48.
