Mets Suffer 4-3 Road Loss
|
The Tampa Yankees picked up a win at George M. Steinbrenner Field, knocking off the St. Lucie Mets, 4-3. On the mound for Tampa was right-hander Dave Cobb. He played a key role in the triumph. Cobb, now 9-7, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. With the win, the Yankees sit at 65-51.
Tampa center fielder Juan Travassos contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 80th hit of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 2-0.
"Dave gave us a heck of an effort," said Tampa manager Eric Owens.
