The Charlotte Stone Crabs beat the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 7-6. Charlotte designated hitter and Sacramento, California, native Lou Woods led the way. Ed Alexander earned the win for Charlotte. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 2-3. The triumph puts Charlotte at 60-60 for the season.

With Charlotte leading 6-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Woods hit a run-scoring single off Lakeland hurler Enzo Garin. It was the 75th hit of the season for Woods and put his team ahead, 7-1.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Woods.
