Tampa picked up a win at George M. Steinbrenner Field, bumping off the Brevard County Manatees, 5-3. Pitcher Jesús Bartolo was a major reason the Yankees emerged victorious. Bartolo, now 8-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The win puts Tampa at 69-58 this season.

Brendan Morgan had a big 2-run home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Tampa leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Randy Smith and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 4-1.

"Jesús had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Tampa manager Eric Owens.
