Cardinals Get One-Run Win at Fort Myers
Hammond Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Fort Myers Miracle and Palm Beach Cardinals.

Palm Beach pitcher Clint Hampton did his part in helping his team defeat the Fort Myers Miracle, 2-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Hampton yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Monty Kirkland, credited with the save, is now 7 for 11 in save opportunities.

The Cardinals got a big at-bat from designated hitter Héctor Morales. For the game, Morales went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Palm Beach a 1-0 lead.

Palm Beach manager Irving Falu commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
