No one was more impactful than José González in the 7-4 Charlotte win over Clearwater. González, who is tied for 3rd in the FSL in doubles with 32, was 1-1 with 4 walks, while scoring 3 times. Manny Fernández earned the win to go to 12-11. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. Dan Collins earned the save, his 5th in 10 tries.

Charlotte designated hitter Lou Woods contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the ninth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 80th hit of the season and put the Stone Crabs ahead, 7-4.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said González. "You've got to get results."

The loss makes Clearwater 57-75.
