In a tight contest between the Bowling Green Hot Rods and the Great Lakes Loons, José Quiñones was the determining factor. The Bowling Green left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-1 win. The save was Jake Canavan's, his 4th. The Hot Rods, at 35-27, have now won 4 straight.

Bowling Green second baseman Duane Hall contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Hot Rods ahead, 3-0.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Bowling Green manager James Hoyt said.
