The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the South Bend Cubs, 15-5. Doing his part was second baseman Duane Hall, who was 3 for 6 with a triple and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. The winner was Bowling Green reliever Rob Klein, now 2-2. The loser was Ed Green. Bowling Green is now 40-31.

Alvin Scott had a big bases-clearing double for the Hot Rods in the top of the fourth inning. With Bowling Green leading 7-5 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jesús Hernández and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hot Rods ahead, 10-5.
