The Bowling Green Hot Rods earned a close win over the West Michigan Whitecaps, thanks in part to Ken Horn. The Bowling Green left-hander, who is tied for 9th in the MID in wins with 7, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Bowling Green pitcher Edwin Hinkle earned the win, hiking his record to 2-0. Jody Simmons suffered the loss. Jake Canavan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Juan López came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing West Michigan pitcher Jody Simmons, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bowling Green on top, 3-2.

"What's not to like about a win?" said López.

The Hot Rods bumped their record to 45-35 with this latest triumph.
