Behind an impressive start by Juan Martínez, Dayton beat Bowling Green, 3-1. Juan Sánchez got the save, his 30th in 35 chances. The Dragons now have a record of 52-57 with the win over Bowling Green.

In the bottom of the third, Steve Smith delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Dayton left fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Dragons in front, 3-1.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Smith. "And not try to do too much."
