Though he had a terrific game, Mike Nicholas could not prevent his team, the Lansing Lugnuts, from absorbing a loss. Bowling Green won the game, 5-4. Nicholas went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Bowling Green pitcher Cliff Apsley got the win, upping his record to 1-2. Ed Buschlen got the loss. The Hot Rods win now puts them at 50-59.

The Hot Rods got a big at-bat from left fielder Jendrzej Geremek. For the game, Geremek was 2 for 5 with 2 triples, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 5th triple of the season gave Bowling Green a 2-1 lead.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Geremek.
