In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Bowling Green Hot Rods an extra-inning, 7-6 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts at Bowling Green Ballpark. Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jesús Valentín? The Lansing right fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 6-4. For the game, Valentín had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

In postgame comments, Valentín said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."

By defeating Bowling Green, the 4th-place Lugnuts improved to 59-53.
