Redbirds Pitching Ravaged by De La Cruz
Friday, May 29th , 2026
Julio De La Cruz was at the head of a Tacoma hit parade at AutoZone Park. The third baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Rainiers to a nice 15-3 victory over the Memphis Redbirds.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging De La Cruz told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Redbirds skipper Scooter Tucker said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Julio De La Cruz singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
For the season, De La Cruz is hitting at a .284 clip with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs and has scored 19 runs. He has 44 hits, 20 walks and a .366 on-base percentage.
