CAL's Best Player Selected, It's Martin
Friday, October 10th , 2025
At the age of 24, Eric Martin of the Lancaster JetHawks could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2025 was good enough to win the right fielder the California League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .358 batting average this year, as well as a .409 on-base percentage. He played 136 games and racked up 172 hits, 47 doubles, 15 triples, 8 home runs, 71 RBIs and 77 runs scored.
He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Jorge Díaz of the San Jose Giants finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Joel Kirkpatrick of the High Desert Mavericks finished third.
