Welch Rips 3 HR Saturday, July 19th , 2025 Jon Welch brutalized the Dunedin Blue Jays pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 13-1 Daytona victory at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The Daytona Tortugas left fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-5 with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Jon Welch today," Blue Jays manager Caden Smith said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Jon Welch hit a three-run home run off Artie Hurley in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Kevin McGhee in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Kevin McGhee in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. To date this season, Welch is hitting .270 with 9 home runs. |
