Ackerman Batters Fort Wayne Big Time Saturday, August 22nd , 2026 Bowling Green catcher Ben Ackerman had a big day at Parkview Field against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The 22-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 13-2 Hot Rods triumph over Fort Wayne. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Ackerman said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Ben Ackerman hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
