Rome Takes Round 1 Monday, September 15th , 2025 The fans in Rome are celebrating the Firebirds victory over the Augusta GreenJackets in the Round 1. They defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 3-0 in the finale played at Lake Olmstead Stadium to capture the series 3-1. Oscar Montgomery was chosen the series' Most Valuable Player. The Firebirds second baseman batted .429, drove in 2 runs and scored 4 runs in the series. "The GreenJackets are a good club and I don't mean any disrespect to their pitching staff, but things just felt easy this series," Montgomery said. "Everything at the plate seemed right." The Rome Firebirds don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Greensboro Grasshoppers - Lakewood BlueClaws series. Greensboro leads the series 2 games to 1.
