Lester Silences Lexington, 5-0 Saturday, August 8th , 2026 Stan Lester of the Charleston RiverDogs was on top of his game. The 22-year-old tantalized the Lexington Legends with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0. "He had the changeup working," Lexington manager Brad Lincoln said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Charleston hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 5 hits in his complete-game effort. Lester told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league." "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said. Up to now Lester has recorded a record of 11-3. In 18 starts he has fanned 93 batters in 129 innings with a 1.67 ERA. View Boxscore |
