Which league(s) do you belong to?
OOTP, FOF, FHM, Bowl Bound College Football
Where are you from?
Buenos Aires, Argentina
What do you do for work/school?
I own several small businesses and freelance on computer-related activities (building, programming, repairing, etc.)
One of my businesses is building arcade machines, specifically ones which use the MAME emulator, but they are considered a virus infection vehicle nowadays so it has become a little slow.
Other personal life details (family, hobbies, etc)
Moved to Las Cruces, NM with my girlfriend as she studied for her master and PhD. I have a degree in computer science but as you know work permits are complicated to get in the USA so I had to pursue freelance, it was an important life experience to learn that you don’t need a 9-to-5 to make a living.
I reside in Chihuahua, Mexico now, which is right at the south border of the USA so the culture is very similar.
For hobbies I would say that I love learning, my YouTube home screen is filled with videos about biographies, psychology, sport strategy and art.
My favorite phone app is Duolingo, I started with French and German at the same time but had to focus only on the latter as it is very difficult. I’m still not able to watch Dark without subtitles but I do manage to catch a phrase here and there lol.
Gaming experience
I’m not much into gaming to be honest, I do have Steam and an Xbox 360 but I don’t play much. The only game I ever got addicted (very addicted) to was Football Manager, specifically the 2013 version, which then led me to OOTP.
When SSG started expanding I got the different software (Front Office Football, Franchise Hockey Manager, etc) and I tried playing single player offline but just can’t get hooked on, I prefer competing online.
What brought you to SSG?
I joined the OOTP online community in 2015, my first time ever joining any online competition, but I was a little disappointed with the first league I joined as I thought things would be different.
But then I started to look around and found the invitation for SSG, which had its own website and an application form to request joining, all very professional, and I thought to myself “this is what I’ve been looking for”.
Real life teams you support
River Plate, above everything.
I’m also fond of the Carolina Panthers and the Orlando Magic, but I don’t consider myself a true fan. I like to follow the teams that are build the right way, like the Patriots, the Warriors, the Dodgers, Bayern Munich, etc.
But once they do bad I don’t follow them anymore (looking at you Chicago Bulls).
Experience playing sports
Soccer of course, it’s everywhere, but I also practiced basketball, tennis, and baseball. I wanted to try football but since I’m only 5’9” it wasn’t gonna work for me.
I still practice the first 3 occasionally and consider myself fairly competent; I always blame my lack of height as the reason I’m not a pro athlete but we all know that’s just an excuse lol
Favorite sports movie
I love film but I’m more into the Andrei Tarkovsky/Roman Polanski style, and from the current generation my favorite director is Robert Eggers.
But if I had to choose a sport movie it would be Trouble With The Curve, starring Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams.
Favorite sports-related quote
“Que la gente crea, porque tiene con qué creer” from Marcelo Gallardo, soccer coach.
Hard to translate literally, it means something like “if you look for it, you can always find a reason to have confidence”
Something we’d be surprised to find out about you
that I’m healthy? lol
I like to exercise, I do running (on a treadmill these days) and Iyengar Yoga. It’s probably the frustrated athlete in me.
Anything else you’d like us to know
I love rock music and all its derivative forms, I play guitar, bass, and drums. I like a lot of rock bands from all the different time periods , from the 60’s (Rolling Stones) to more current ones like Opeth, but I don’t consider myself a ‘fan’ of any of them.
I’m always looking for bands I haven’t heard of yet, like recently I discovered Rosalie Cunningham which is someone I highly recommend if you are into rock music too.
