Bradenton Defeated by Fort Myers, 1-0
|
The Fort Myers Miracle knocked off the Bradenton Marauders, 1-0, in Florida State League action at Hammond Stadium. Fort Myers pitcher and Lindenhurst, Illinois, native Tim Edwards had an outstanding performance. Duane Hutchins sewed up the save, his 1st. The loss puts Bradenton at 1-1.
Jake Mooney drove in one run for Fort Myers. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jesús Sánchez. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Mooney. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
